Officials ID woman killed by Caltrain
A 29-year-old San Francisco woman died Monday after being struck by a train in San Bruno, a San Mateo County coroner's office deputy said Tuesday.Ellen Chiang was struck by northbound train No. 147 at 1:15 p.m. at the San Bruno Caltrain station. The southbound track reopened at about 1:45 p.m. and the northbound track opened about an hour and a half later, Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.
The incident marked the ninth fatality involving a Caltrain locomotive this year. Five of those deaths have been determined to be suicides, one was unintended and the results of three, including Chiang's, are pending, according to Caltrain.
