Daly City police search for armed rape suspect

Daly City police are seeking an armed rapist who allegedly attempted to rape a woman at knifepoint last week in the King Drive area.

The man allegedly asked the victim for assistance last Thursday with his disabled vehicle. The victim then drove the him to a service station, where he took out a knife and attempted a sexual assault, police said.

"The suspected brandished a knife and attempted to rape the victim," said Daly City police Sgt. David Mackriss. "The victim then managed to flee her vehicle, so the suspect stole it."

The suspect has been described as a dark Filipino or Hispanic male in his late 20s to early 30s, with short dark hair and a medium build. He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap and white T-shirt. His upper teeth are damaged, and his left ring finger is disfigured - bent sideways at a 45-degree angle, police said.

The stolen car was a dark green Kia Sephia, license plate number 3PAK369, according to police.

"We're following up on some leads," said Detective Ron Harrison. "We're looking through our files and any previous street robberies that occurred in the area to match the description of the suspect."

Anyone with information on the man's identity is encouraged to call Detective Ron Harrison at 650-991-8175 or Detective Tom Prudden at 650-991-8145.
